Hajia4Reall's Instagram account was removed after she entered a guilty plea in a $2 million romance scam case.

Ghanaian musician and social media celebrity Mona Faiz Montrage, also known online as Hajia4Reall, cancelled her Instagram account. She had over four million followers.

This happens as a result of her guilty plea in the $2 million romance scam case on Wednesday, February 21.

She was accused of being a part of a criminal organisation with its headquarters in Ghana that defrauded American individuals and businesses of a variety of things, including romance scams. She was accused of being involved in May 2023 and was charged on six charges.

On the United States Attorney's Office website, the socialite entered a guilty plea to one count of conspiracy to accept stolen money. The maximum sentence for this charge is five years.

Hajia4Real deleted everything from her Facebook a few days prior to entering a guilty plea.

However, many of her fans found out after hearing the news that they could no longer access the content on her page and that clicking on it would cause a message stating the page had been removed.

Hajia4Reall also agreed to forfeit $2,164,758.41 and make the same amount of restitution.

She's awaiting clearance.

Hajia4Reall was extradited to the US from the UK in May 2023 as a result of her suspected involvement in the $2 million "sakawa" romance scam, which preyed on older, single Americans.

The prosecution charged her with planning to conduct wire fraud, money laundering, and other offences that might result in a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

She was also accused with conspiring to accept stolen property, which is punishable by up to five years in prison, and receiving stolen property, which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

According to the prosecution, the Influencer was a member of a criminal organization with its headquarters in Ghana that committed several frauds against American individuals and businesses between at least 2013 and at least 2019.

They alleged that the Enterprise frequently engaged in romance scams, deceiving victims via texts, emails, and social media posts into believing they were in a romantic relationship with someone who was actually a fictional persona assumed by members of the Enterprise.

After successfully convincing victims that they were in a love relationship and gaining their trust, members of the Enterprise persuaded them to send money to bank accounts they believed were managed by their romantic interests. Members of the Enterprise actually held authority over the bank accounts.

The prosecution said that several victims of romance scams who were tricked into sending money by members of the Enterprise transferred money to Hajia4Reall.

Among the false pretences used to get victims to donate money to Hajia4Reall were payments to transfer gold into the United States from overseas, payments to resolve a phoney FBI investigation, and payments to assist a fictitious U.S. Army commander in obtaining money from Afghanistan.

Bank accounts controlled by Hajia4Reall received over $2 million in fraudulent funds from the Enterprise.

But the socialite pled not guilty to all of the charges in May 2023, and she was later released on bond.

On June 26, 2023, she shared a now-deleted Instagram picture in which she reiterated her innocence. The artist expressed her gratitude to her supporters for "your love and prayers showed to me during these difficult times."

She continued by saying that her justification will materialize eventually.

"There is time for everything, and the world will come to know the truth, and my story will be heard," the headline said.
